Teeth-whitening systems are great tools that help you achieve the smile of your dreams. There are in-office whitening treatments as well as over-the-counter whitening treatments, and our Mill Creek General Dentistry team is happy to share more information about the treatments you can use at home. Some of those treatments are:

Whitening toothpaste contains mild abrasives and gentle polishing or chemical agents that provide an effective stain-removal job. The toothpaste does not generally contain bleach—it contains carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide to help remove surface stains from your smile. This paste can lighten the color deep in your teeth by about one shade.

Whitening strips are thin, virtually invisible products that are coated with peroxide-based whitening gel. You should place a strip over your smile twice a day for 30 minutes each time. Within about 14 days, you should start seeing results.

Whitening gel is a product that contains peroxide and is applied to the surfaces of your teeth with a small brush. The instructions to apply the gel will be based on the strength of the whitening agent, so please be sure to read the label and do exactly as it says. You should start seeing results within a few days and your final results will be sustained for about four months.

Not only does whitening mouthwash brighten your smile, but it also freshens your breath, reduces dental plaque, and decreases your chances of developing gum disease. The mouthwash includes ingredients that will help you achieve your smile results in no time. Within about 12 weeks, you should start seeing brighter results.
